Kinesio Taping

A method to expand the therapeutic and
preventative approach to treatment.

Created by a Japanese physician, Kenso
Kase in the 70's. Used for decades by athletes
and Olympic teams. Recieved Medicare code in 2001.

Designed to mimic skin in weight, elasticity and
thickness. Latex free/hypoallergenic.
Water resistant. Specialized wave like pattern
assists in effectiveness.

How Does It Work?

The skin is the largest sensory organ of the body.
Kinesio taping works with the sensory stimulus
of the body.

The special wave like pattern designed in the tape
offers a minor "lift" to the skin thereby creating a
greater space between tissues. This space allows
for greater cell activity. An increase of metabolic
waste, promotion of micro circulation and lymphatic
flow will all induce a healing response. Pain reduction
is achieved as the tape application offers a reduction
in pressure to  an affected area.

-tape can be worn 24/7 for up to 5 days
-water soluable
-promotes mobility versus inhibits
-sensory feedback increases proprioception
-joint support
-postural stability
-controls muscle function through inhibition
or facilitation
-persistent stimulating effect
-pain relief
-tissue correction for fibrosis and scar tissue
-comfortable to wear

Some conditions that can be treated with taping

- lymphedema                         -swelling
- fibrosis                                   -arthritic joints
-overworked muscles             -tendonitis
-weak muscles                       -carpal tunnel
-shin splints                              -menstrual pain
-pain                                         -achilles tendon
-plantar fasciitis
